Background in philosophy, theology and biology. Look for and support what's good, beautiful, true, and serves the common good (especially "the least of these"). Reject that which is self-serving and cruel. I enjoy cooking and learning about foods.
The elections give us hope. America does not side with dictators and will not willingly submit.
But: the regime will not step aside or change course just because they’re unpopular. That’s not the way dictatorships work. It will double down on cruelty.
We must keep on and say “NO!” every way we can.

If you grew up with Disney and had feelings of fondness and affection for it, but now feel that it has let you — and America — down, consider writing and mailing a physical letter to Disney to let them know. It may have more impact than a social media posting or email.

Better an “elderly white hippy” than a hairless Nazi (or, actually, any kind of fascist).

The Beaverton library public library’s summer adult reading program has surpassed its goal for hours read! That means that Friends of the Beaverton Library will be making a donation to the Safe Route Immigration program (a service of Lutheran Community Services Northwest). Good job, Beaverton!

Truth and reality are not his friends. He has, at best, a passing familiarity with them. Most days, though, I’ m not sure he even has that.

“Our relation to other human actors must be rooted in God’s body-and-soul concern for all peoples. We must see others—even our enemies—with love and through the lens of the imago Dei, a lens we…distort when we consider God…the special servant of our nation or program to the exclusion of others.”

But people like Hesgeth (and the entire GOP administration and GOP senators/representatives) do forget the significance of D-Day and what it was part of the fight against.
