Thank you! That first game's about a hacker who sends text/image files to the protagonist to give hints to solve puzzles. It's meant to make the player feel like they're hacking to look outside the game to progress. It was for a game jam where the theme was beyond expectations, so I thought it fit!

This year, I made a mechanic where you can type commands into a console and it saves txt and image files to a local folder. I also made a deck-building card game.

Both of these were in game jam projects and I used a lot of JavaScript code/events with arrays and functions.

In this blog post, I talk about how I made my first #RPGMaker plugin. It's a lot more technical than my usual more visual posts, but I tried to lay out the whole coding process here:

My Debug Log File #RPGMaker plugin is officially live on itchio! Feel free to download it and use it for your games. It's my first finished plugin, mostly made for my own debugging, but anyone is free to use it in their own projects too.

I beat both and can say they're some of the best in their series, so I'd recommend eventually playing both! Definitely exceeded my expectations. If you're in it for the story, Digimon is definitely better there, but I overall had more fun with Pokemon for the gameplay. So it's hard to choose one.

I honestly wasn't super excited about it either but now it's turning out to be one of my favorites, and I agree it definitely has exceeded my expectations. I can say it's probably my favorite battle system that's been in a Pokemon game at least.

I set it up so that it uses the Actor database for the player's current party and the Classes database for the monsters' base stats. So I set the Actor's class to be that specific monster when it's caught. It's fun how much automation you can do with some basic script commands!

October seemed bigger this year (for me at least) with Pokemon Z-A and Digimon Story Time Stranger coming out 2 weeks apart, so it was a month earlier than usual. November will just be Kirby Air Riders, but I'm still excited about that!
