We're heartbroken to learn of the passing of Nenko Gantchev in ICE custody at North Lake detention center. This isn't the first death in Michigan immigration detention. We've long called for reforms to ensure health & safety. We now look to ICE for a thorough review & report.

🚨 President Trump expanded the travel ban to 39 countries. Similar policy was biased in the first Trump admin, when thousands protested at airports, and it's still discriminatory. This cruel policy affects many Michiganders trying to reunite or visit loved ones.

Sadly, one of our Afghan clients recently shared the same fate as many individuals across the country - detained at their check in despite a pending asylum application, victims of a collective punishment that is cruel and misguided.

Sadly, today the Michigan Supreme Court authorized the state to violate the rights of Michiganders with impunity. Ruling did not reach the merits of the case brought by MIRC & @farmstandorg @SugarLawJustice for worker & immigrant justice.
Onus is now on Governor & #MILEG to act.
