When Alex Ferguson dies, are all the ex United pundits going to start wandering around aimlessly like zombies in a shopping mall?

Back the club, back the manager.

A very uneven series, but the spectacle is really something.

Amorin at yesterday's press conference...

A deserved draw. Would have taken that at the start of the day.

It was coming unfortunately.

The problem isn't Vance or Rubio, or whomever succeeds Trump. It's that you can't build a positive relationship with a superpower that will veer from liberal-internationalism to ethno-nationalism on a 4-8 year cycle. That risk will have to be priced into every decision we make regarding the USA.

I am mostly reserving judgement on Venezuela while things develop. But my initial thoughts.

1) Maduro’s rendition probably doesn’t advance any U.S. foreign policy objectives, per se.
2) It invites significant reputational damage.
3) The WH doesn’t appear to have planned beyond this point.

This is what we call a 'developing situation'.

The Chelsea manager, that is. What else do you think I'm talking about?

It is sorta refreshing that Trump just says the quiet part out loud.

It's the oil, stupid.

Panama, Grenada: it's not like this isn't unprecedented US behaviour.

Maybe Maduro has the missing Epstein files?

Reasons to be cheerful:
Cole Palmer
Estevao
Pedro Neto
Moises Caicedo
Enzo Fernandez
Reece James
Wes Fofana
Josh Acheampong

Rob Sanchez not being terrible at the moment.

There are big gaps, but the team isn't dogshit either.

I liked Maresca. I liked that he was serious, I liked that he recognised that footballers were privileged. He made mistakes, but he is not to blame for the Children's Crusade of the sporting directors. This team does not have the spine of mentality monsters required to compete at the very top.

We need a Drogba. We need men. If we keep running a Children's Crusade, they will keep walking into the sea to drown.

We need a killer in front of goal.

Good recovery, but we will never progress if we keep getting battered in the first 20 minutes because we don't match teams for intensity.

Garnacho is so close to being good.

Might do the classic red card and a penalty blow up in the last 20 minutes though.

Cheeky free kick and a long ball from the GK. Proper Barclays.

It's that old Ferguson adage: match the opposition for effort, and your quality will be the difference.

Why is Newcastle away always a guaranteed shitshow every season? Something about the fog on the Tyne switches our player's brains off.

As I've said in other places, if you're shocked by anything Trump says or does at this point, you just haven't been paying attention for a decade. It's a cult of personality, and there is no bottom. Get over it and just focus on the important actions with real global consequences
