There is no single American Christianity. There are many types which are very different from each. Imagine a reporter goes to a school with 1,000 children. Two of the children are fighting. The reporter reports on the fighting. Now you are thinking all the children at that school are fighting.

This is the same logic that is used to justify the Palestinian genocide.

Generally it is a type of Protestant Christianity called 'fundamentalism' which in general appeals to the less educated. The media loves to find nut-jobs because they are outrageous and get more clicks, but this leads to people thinking that this is the norm, when it's really just a hand full nuts.

There is no such thing American Christianity. There are many types, some very different than others. Most are protestant, and don't follow any pope. It's about 60% non-christian, 30% Protestant (no central leader), 10% Roman Catholic.
