After nearly 15 years together and with profound sorrow, I announce the death of my perfect and beloved familiar, Esme. Esme cooked up a surprise bellyful of tumor over the last few weeks and died, via euthanasia, peacefully and well-loved in my arms Tuesday morning. I miss her.

When the smalls know us, sometimes we are given disease and untimely rot. Always, we are given a productive end, a functional return to the firmament via the earth. The earth breathes, and our simple parts are shuttled around to where they need to be, by the smalls, with their own small love.

The ruling classes have been weaponizing infectious diseases and the broader microbial world against the plebs forever. Where you find political agenda, you'll see the manipulation of public perception of our relationship with bacteria and viruses. We'll see more as the climate crisis progresses.
