Just so we’re clear: Labor is choosing to work with the worst possible party on environmental issues, instead of the Greens and teals who actually want environmental regulation.
And Watt is already admitting it won’t have a climate trigger …

Environment Minister Murray Watt will sit down with his Liberal counterpart Angie Bell today, with quiet optimism in both parties that a deal might soon be struck to finally rewrite Australia's "broke...

Sanctimonious nonsense from the publishers of the hate peddling Murdoch trash rags who pursue people, including teenagers, they don’t like with extreme prejudice

Exactly. Imagine if they took this as a chance to reset and create an amazing arts, culture, history museum on an appropriate site with appropriate funding - as per the original vision. We can dream

Great news for Traditional Owners who always said it was the wrong site, NTG will be happy not to spend money on culture, Feds don't need to stump up for a diminished project certain to have cost overruns. But $15m spent, all for nothing, due to political expediency.

Wanted to be sure Spent Light by @larapawson.bsky.social is the best book I've read this year so I read it for a third time to check and it turns out Spent Light by @larapawson.bsky.social is indeed the best book I've read this year.

Mitch Kenny who is, ironiclaly, the most progressive player in the NRL. Can guarantee it's not a MAGA shout-out.

A special friend died yesterday morning. The night before, a painting of hers fell off the wall beside my desk.
Yeah, I dunno.

Imagine if anyone in power in Australia was ever held responsible for any wrongdoing ever. Imagine if we had a national anti-corruption commission or something like that.

"please rate your package delivery" i mean ill click the smiley face because i assume it impacts the poor bastard who delivered it but i must impress upon you that forcing both him and i into this situation is an act of utter inhumanity and furthermore that god frowns upon your deeds

Just remembered something I should have added to this yesterday: the response from someone on Twitter when I first posted it there
A Twitter reply: "A man died. Not terribly funny as a punchline". No, Bluesky did not invent the humourless reply person, just honed the art form

Thank you once again.

Here’s a piece I wrote about the damage done to Australian cultural institutions - ABC, Creative Australia, MSO, SLV, SLQ, etc and now Bendigo Writers Fest - by their surrender to the demands of pro-Israel pressure campaigns

To be fair, that would be a very efficient way to make sure every festival is "safe".

What a shemozzle. Hard to predict what happens next: will other writers fests and cultural events have learned that pre-emptive censorship is a disaster, or will Bendigo-style speech-limiting contracts become the norm?

Bendigo Writers Fest confirms that 59% of speakers withdrew.
What an own goal.
I hope those responsible for trying to silence writers are feeling good about themselves. Wrecked an important cultural institution.
