It's a similar story with BOTW and TOTK's open world compared to classic 3d Zelda linearity. Linearity allows the game to tell a better and more engaging story imo

I'm probably the only person crazy enough to complain about having too much freedom in games lmao. But when I compare, for example, AC GCN to New Horizons, it's clear to me that the restrictions of GCN make it a more enjoyable game imo

Ik I sound annoying talking about how I prefer the old games but man I didn't play Animal Crossing to decorate. I played to talk to my virtual little friends and have them send me on wild goose chases and other dumb stuff like that. Nowadays they're pretty much just decorations in and of themselves

I miss when decorating was only a small part of the game and there were things you couldn't control and villagers were actually fun and engaging to talk to
