It's depressing how quietly these changes have been brushed under the rug. There's been such little outcry over what will amount to a huge reduction in income for many disabled people.

Apparently it won't even save money, so the whole thing is just pointlessly cruel.

Is there a strategy behind Labour's assault on disability, especially mental health & neurodiversity?

Its pretty toxic to not just their base but median voters also. At the same time, anything Labour will implement in practice will be too soft to assuage reform voters.

I genuinely don't get it.

Perhaps Labour would find an easier time politically if they stopped pushing policies that make life even harder for people with disabilities?

They keep saying this but isn’t the welfare bill effectively steady as a share of GDP, and lower than it was under Cameron?

Hard to trust them when they're this disingenuous.

Since a *third* set of tax rises is going to be politically impossible, I fear that if they fail to create enough headroom now we'll be right back to the approach of the harsh cuts that we saw in the spring budget...
