3. Wasn't extractive, GDR was making advanced goods. Germany today is if anything more reliant on foreign resources.

GDR did have a reunification movement, which got exploited by FRG in order to steal those people's assets, put them out of work and eliminate competition. And to this day there's an economic divide between the east and west. I don't think that's what GDR's citizens wanted.

Minqi Lin already wrote about China's global position being of unequal exchange that drains value from most of the South to their country and their value being drained to the North. They didn't overcome anything, they simply got a better deal.
