The dish was ok. I made it as printed, but it called for raisins as an ingredient. Generally I don’t like the sweetness of raisins in a savory dish & I usually swap them for dried cherries which are less sweet. #foodsky #cooking

I made pasta chi broccoli arriminati, Sicilian pasta with broccoli. I signed up to do surveys with Americas test Kitchen. They send recipes to try, and if you cook them you fill out a form to give feedback. Broccoli is simmered until soft then mashed & topped with bread crumbs 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky

I made an Oktoberfest themed dinner. The homemade part was the red cabbage, sweet & sour style. I didn’t follow any specific recipe. I searched to get ideas from others & combined them with my own experience. I added sugar a bit at a time to get the balance right. 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooksky

I present to you Spanish migas. Spanish migas (as opposed to Mexican migas) are a traditional way to use stale bread. The bread is sautéed after that there are lots of variations both regional & personal. Chorizo & eggs are common additions. Recipe below. 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking

I went to another presentation at the NY Public Library, all lit up. This was with Jill Lapore a historian & author of a new book on the history of the U.S. constitution, We the People. She was compelled to write it seeing how the American public doesn’t know about it. Thanks #NYPL again. #booksky

I made another Spanish style lentil stew. It uses bacon and smoked paprika to mimic Spanish cured chorizo which can be find in stores. It also uses a technique of cooking a head of garlic in the stew then squeezing the soft cloves into the stew at the end. Recipe below 1/2 🍽️🍜 #foodsky #cooking

I remembered I had extra bacon, so I wrapped it around the sausage, secured it with toothpicks & popped it in the air fryer. The bacon gave it texture & a smokey-salty flavor boost. It was much better that way. I also used up the bacon so it didn’t go to waste. 2/2 #foodsky #cooking #octoberfest

Today’s dinner wasn’t a recipe I made. It was pivoting when something isn’t as good as I hoped. This is store-bought mustard potato salad, German style sweet & sour pickles & weisswurst with Polish style mustard. The wurst was mushy and bland. I thought about how to improve it 1/2 #foodsky

I wrapped up NYC Climate Week at a presentation from the Simons Foundation. A biologist & a geologist had an informal discussion with a science reporter from Quanta magazine, a popular science publication. As the title indicates it focused on the entire earth & climate history. #climateweek #science

My latest completed ebook read. It’s a critique of a handful of harmful laws on the books in the U.S. It exposes the rationale behind them & how they harm the country. It’s irreverent & made me laugh out loud on the subway several times causing people to move away from me. lol. #booksky

As part of the continuing NYC Climate Week the American Museum of Natural History had another event. Multiple NGOs & agencies had information tables, there was a music act & NYC’s DEP climate leader spoke. I learned NYC is a world leader in climate policy. Thank you @amnh.org #AMNH #climateweek
