But why does a typewriter need a gasket? It looks like they're used as a vibration damper and possibly to protect the plastic from the metal, but the Dora is the only model I've seen do this. You can see the old ones had perished badly
A rubber gasket sitting around where location the bolt goes through the case. It's starting to split, is misshapen and dry.

Random ali-express store for the win, I got the right sized gasket right and I was able to put this Olivetti Dora back together all clean and nice 🥰

Two e-clips sit on a mat. They each less than 5mm in diameter. One the of the e-clips is missing half of it. When I was removing it, I felt something ping off my face. I was worried it was the clip flying off never to be found despite my best efforts, but no, it was instead the demise of it

ANNOUNCEMENT: I NO LONGER SHIP FRARNEY (Fred / Barney) So I'll be honest. When I first got into the Flintstones fandom, I was incredibly young and naive. (For starters, I thought the show featured documentary footage of real cavemen, dinosaurs and prehistoric technology.) But over the years, as I got deeper into not just the series lore but also the behind-the-scenes aspects of the production, I began to realize that it was a just a cheaply animated knock-off of The Honeymooners and all the storylines were nothing more than stock mid-century sitcom plots mixed in with puns on the word 'stone.' The writers, tasked with churning out 30-episode seasons of childish drivel, would not have had the bandwidth to craft hidden messages to the show's audience about a secret love between two crudely drawn Neanderthals. Furthermore, as I began to question the validity of my once-cherished ship, I found myself under attack by increasingly toxic 'Dark Frarnies' who review-bombed my earlier fanfics into oblivion. The fact is, while shipping Fred and Barney may have brought me joy during a dark time in my life (I had recently been exiled from the Jetsons fandom for what was, in retrospect, a misguided pairing of Rosie the Robot and Astro the Dog) I just don't feel at home in the Frarney community anymore. And while it may be bittersweet to say goodbye, at least I can still find consolation in my folder with over 10,000 hyper-realistic, anatomically correct Scrooggi (Scrooge McDuck x Yogi Bear) drawings.

My Nakajima All 8100 is getting a clean. This must have been used in a office, it was so fill of little bits of correctional fluid. I'll need to give it another around again to see if I can remove some more of it

Ok it's need a little more work than I first thought.

Somethings I need to learn:
* How to clean off stubborn stains
* How to make sure the typebar returns completely
* How to ensure the keys aren't sitting lower than the rest.

Also someone has been in here before, because it's missing 3 screws
Example of the muck which was under the keys. A wipe got ride of the dust, but I'm so far unable to remove these more ingrained ones An example of the type are not returning. It's sitting proud of the other keys 4 or 5mm The H, K and B keys are sitting lower than the other keys
