Working on something different today. One jump ring broke off of this stained glass (not mine) and while I was tempted to try and repair it with rosin core solder I decided to get the proper solid core solder and acid? flux.

I see a couple rolls of 2mm on Amazon but for delicate repair work this is still huge.

Stained glass folks. Why is solid core solder for stained glass absurdly large diameter? 3mm or 1/8" seems to be the standard.

Check out this fondue set by Swiss Toolmaker PB Swiss. I feel like every major tool company has a couple items like this.

Why don't modern CAT6 keystones have strain relief for the cable? Is this style of keystone considered acceptable for enterprise networking? Who makes enterprise-grade keystones? This one is from Cable Matters. For years Monoprice keystones had a zip tie but newer version doesn't.

Also can someone tell Illinois Capacitor that this table isn't a substitute for a series chart?

You know how those cheap Chinese alligator clip leads have folded and crimped wires? Turns out the American ones are like that too. I'm surprised to see this instruction sheet from Mueller. Can't we get an alligator clip that has a proper double crimp for conductor + insulation?

I'm not a fan of PCBs with leads that are bent tightly against the PCB. Makes desoldering difficult! Sony loved this technique and used it on lots of boards. Sometimes I just cut the part off and remove the leads one by one!

When did it become so difficult to sell used books on Amazon?

Alternative packaging actually mentions DuPont. This is also known as CFC-113.

Here's a map of licenses still using the iconic rectangular KS15676 horns. I suspect many of these have been repurposed in-situ because they are very large, heavy, and hard to move. portal.radyn.com/license-sear...

The cool thing about that website is that you can search by antenna make/model Here's a map of all of the p2p licenses using the round Gabriel horn antennas. The only ones left online are Queen Anne and a chain of presumably former long lines sites in South Dakota. portal.radyn.com/license-sear...

Simichrome works amazingly well at cleaning up corroded RCA connector shells. I used a kimwipe at first but then switched to a dremel buffing wheel which quickly turned black from all the gunk that came off the connectors. I think Autosol and Flitz would work too.

My corner of Seattle still has an AT&T long lines tower. It's a prominent local landmark but I suspect most folks have no idea why it's there. One of the horns is still in use, which is very rare. #seattle #longlines

Has anyone found a good replacement for the Ikea Jansjo task lights? They are no longer available and I have several of them that flicker randomly.
