It's a true period piece for the 1960s (when I was a kid).

I recommend Godfather of Harlem. A very smart real Black crime lord, Bumpy Johnson,
who in actual history turns the tables on the Italian mob and lives out his days not in prison.

I like to think about interstellar encounters with non-human sentients and advanced, god-like beings beyond the common SF tropes. I think that these interactions may be so outside of normal experience that we'd label them surreal, which is how I came upon the name Surrealia for the sentient planet.
