Omg thank you so much for saying that! I love making connections! You and all my other splatoon friends are amazing

Literal aimbot wtf

True true. I don’t think “locks out” is the right term for it, maybe more disincentivizes it. I definitely think the people saying low level teams should play higher level teams should also be down to spend a few hours stomping on div 10s to give them a chance to practice.
November 13, 2025 at 7:04 PM
I guess tldr is I agree that gatekeeping skill is fine as a small part of the community but it does end up locking low level out of chances to improve and locking high level out of chances to help low level and expand their community.
November 13, 2025 at 6:31 PM
This is as someone who’s never really scrimmed higher level teams but I would really like to. I think partly from anxiety about them not getting as much out of it as me, and embarrassment over my own skill which are both things I’m trying overcome.

but I think Excalibur 8s all level channel and scrims with more skilled players has a special benefit above just getting a quick 0-3 in a tournament and moving on. 8s because you get to play with better players on your teams and scrims bc it’s more relaxed and u can get advice and suggestions.
November 13, 2025 at 6:28 PM
I think something that doesn’t get talked about is that if lower level players should play higher level players to improve, that also means higher level players need to play with lower level players too. I think open tournaments are a great way to do that, and even entering low ink as div 10 is good
November 13, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Hm yeah maybe it was they wanted to split div 9 and div 10 into separate tiers which is so much worse 😭 and yeah the open level 8s channel is awesome.
November 13, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Whenever the Excalibur 8s was established some people in the lowest tier were talking about how they should add a new tier for people who are world 9 eligible. Which would obv be bad because 1. there’s really not that much of a skill gap and 2. It locks div 9-10 out of playing with better players.

Congrats mystic bond forge tactician! /j

I think that your advice to low level people comes across as very antagonistic even if it’s accurate and I do think this original post may be oversimplified but maybe not to the extent I thought.
November 11, 2025 at 4:17 AM
So I came in hot earlier and honestly I’m sorry. I think this is valuable advice, I do die too much and thinking about it this way helps.
November 11, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Idk they did say in this thread that it is not hyperbole and should be taken literally
November 10, 2025 at 11:14 PM
people is just gonna alienate low level players. I think it’s good to keep in mind a lot of low level players and people who could benefit from your content are literal children. If you want to just put out guides, stream, and play at high level then keeping at it ig I’ll keep reading ur stuff.
November 10, 2025 at 11:12 PM
hyperdive is such a niche and borderline rage bait playstyle that it’s not worth making such strong statements in opposition to it. And if you do want to make content to help people improve at splatoon I think the community could really benefit from you but saying inflammatory stuff and antagonizing
November 10, 2025 at 11:10 PM
can be, and I think there are lots of opportunities where going for something and dying is better than not going for it at all, and I also think you make a really good point about not just accepting those deaths as being worth it and really looking at how they could have been avoided. I also think
November 10, 2025 at 11:09 PM
I guess I don’t think you’re exactly wrong about dying being bad generally and I definitely don’t think I know more about splatoon analysis than you but I do think that posts like this are way too black and white for a game as nuanced as Splatoon, I think there is a wide variety in how bad a death
November 10, 2025 at 11:07 PM
No I just have other coaches and ppl to review my gameplay with
November 10, 2025 at 10:58 PM
Yeah I guess besides that lolol
November 10, 2025 at 10:51 PM
on Bluesky and see it’s like 90% antagonizing and dunking on low level people for sucking at splatoon lmao
November 10, 2025 at 10:46 PM
Idk I also thought that being overly focused on comps wasn’t a real thing at low level and I was wrong about that, it definitely is. Bottom line is I think you’re an incredibly talented player and analyst, playing smarter was a huge part of my improvement and I was a little bummed to go follow you
November 10, 2025 at 10:46 PM
And to be clear I’m not saying that if I went for something I couldn’t have survived, that means no one could have survived it so it’s fine no notes. I’m saying that it’s still good that I did it even tho I died?, and I can review it to see how I can survive next time.
