The defining feature of ODS is not opposition itself, but the inflexible assumption that opposition exists because of personal animus rather than legitimate difference, coincidence, or external limitation.

In ODS, disagreement, neutral constraints, or independent motivations are routinely reframed as intentional and personal opposition. It involves attribution errors and egocentric bias, leading the individual to overestimate their personal relevance.

There are some great analogies here that help me understand some of my own thoughts. Corey can be a little bit divisive sometimes and I know I don’t always 100% agree with him. But as he points out, this is all about money. The strange thing is I think some of these companies believe their hype.
