In "easy" mode you usually cannot unlock them, in "difficult" it's usually given whatever you do since you usually need to get/unlock specific things to get it... ! (I use "usually" because I cant swear it's always the case xD)

Oh yeah that's a big things... That actually will help you a lot if you try to forge Ultima or achiement with specific Heartless (even more if Final Mix version with the black mushroom ekgrj)
But I do understand the pain xD
