As a graduate of both New College of Florida and Carnegie Mellon’s grad program in Literary & Cultural Studies, I’m feeling great about higher education in this country.
Carnegie Mellon’s literature PhD is being liquidated in favor of “computation,” casualized labor, and AI.
That has profound ramifications for, students, faculty, and program alums like myself.

I have a new piece on the Community Action Program arguing the Johnson Admin developed core tools of the non-profit industrial complex. TLDR: They liked rhetoric of "participation" but were unprepared for influence of Baker/SNCC/Highlander. Couldn't fully unwind EOA so they built tools to limit CAP

Given Chaos, I don’t expect anyone to notice the hearing for head of Federal Housing Finance Agency. But FHFA is one of the most consequential agencies that most folks have never heard of. And chief on its agenda will be full privatization of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. Here’s why that’s very bad. 1/5
