I think we should go back to having regular TVs instead of HD, maybe have one of each for different shows. HD can be for movies or certain prestige shows, but we don’t need sitcoms to be in HD; this is how we get back to 22-episode seasons, not caring about visual fidelity as much.

Dang, does any other color even come close? Green and Black each have a few solid movies, maybe a couple Red or White too, but I think Blue takes it easily

In terms of critical reception, is Blue the most successful color to put in a movie title? (Blue Velvet, Blue Ruin, Blue Valentine, Blue Jasmine, Blue is the Warmest Color, Perfect Blue)

The Substance sequel where you find out the company was just hiring hot young actresses to pretend to be older actresses using the substance, and all the body horror stuff was just in Demi Moore’s head. They have no idea how a placebo turned her into a flesh abomination at the end though.

It feels conspiracy-adjacent. Like “here’s some out of context stuff the Bible says, and here’s stuff people are doing now”, without the actual connective tissue or evidence. I feel like it could be true for some small subset of people but plain old Islamophobia feels like a much stronger factor

Like having one incompetent person can be funny, but it’s exhausting when it’s the whole cast. The 4th episode has a plot point where Domnhall Gleeson, who is supposed to be the one competent person on the team, not know that inflammable and flammable are synonyms.

I think my big problem with The Paper compared with The Office is that the Office’s original thesis was “office life is bad because of management/corporate systems”, and The Paper’s seems to be “journalism is bad now because journalists are all bumbling dumb dumb idiots”

All I’ll say is the first person to sample “few small beers” from OBAA for a song could have a generational party anthem on their hands.

The more important question, with its message of “Biological dads suck and are usually fascists, found family is good even if they’re a bunch of goofy fuckups.”
- is OBAA a James Gunn movie?

The original Star Wars is a political fantasy of “what if wars had laser swords and spaceships and magic?”

Andor is a political fantasy of “what if we actually had effective left wing revolutionary groups opposing fascism?”

It’s funny that Sigourney Weaver’s big sci-fi franchise used to be Alien, at this point there’s been more Alien movies without her than with her, and she’s now in Star Wars, and got adopted by James Cameron for Avatar movies despite him killing her character in the first one

I feel like it’s a mix of trying to turn creative works into a corporate product, and nerds screaming that they don’t want stories w/ meaning or complexity, they want to play with their cool action figures, and not understanding those demands are the partly the reason stories are getting worse

So will Abbott Elementary and Always Sunny do a road trip to Pittsburgh in their next seasons for a 3-way crossover with The Pitt?

I have a conspiracy theory that Licorice Pizza exists because of Bash Brothers
- Lonely Island makes Bash Bros in 2019
- Haim sisters are in a song with Maya Rudolph
- Haim becomes friends with Maya
- Maya introduces them to her partner, PTA
- PTA decides to cast Alana Haim in his next movie

Seeing Dan O’Brien accepting an award and and giving a speech at the Emmys is super surreal. Like what do you mean that’s the same guy I used to watch doing funny YouTube videos?

It’s funny how the first season of Andor is technically a massive case of Surf Dracula but doesn’t get any flack for it because it’s so good (and probably because it’s about a guy nobody cared about before the show)

The odds of a cutscene/transition where Samus does an Akira slide aren’t 100%, but they’re pretty close

I’m excited for One Battle After Another, but also need someone to make the extremely classy porn parody, One Butthole After Another

I’m sorry why have I never heard that Julian Assange was born in Townsville City, Australia? That’s not a real place, that’s the city from the Powerpuff Girls!

Andor will always be a really funny show on a meta level because of how deftly it has to dance this nuanced examination of fascism and resistance around the main Star Wars plot of “an evil warlock wants to build a death laser the size of the moon”

For All Mankind is in the same boat as Downton Abbey and The West Wing where they’re good shows but have a brand of liberal optimism that feels inherently conservative (the patriarchal 1950’s man & tech billionaire will do the right thing in the end, 90’s America would accept a lesbian president)
