The astonishment is just me. I feel like I’ve personally seen that many SFFH YA novels myself. But researching, I see that although about 100,000 SFFH novels minimum are published by trad publishers annually, the YA number is indeed far smaller. Still, isn’t that astonishing? There’s so much YA.

How about if we just take away their tax credits, tax privileges and government subsidies? No more carried interest tax break, tax capital gains the same as wage income, no deductibility of investment interest. Make them pay the same tax rates as people who work. It would be a good start.

I reached that point. Self pub has really been great for me, freeing me up to write, but I do understand trad pub has huge marketing abilities and is taken much more seriously by media and readers. But it doesn’t have to be either/or.
