"The lesser of two evils is still evil" is an excuse.

Perhaps you cannot figure out how a minority in the House, the Senate, and SCOTUS can enact their will for the same reason that the minority cannot figure it out. BECAUSE IT CAN'T BE DONE.

Sadly, no. That would require courage on the part of the Vice President and a majority of the cabinet. Not gonna happen.
But even if it did, then when the inevitable challenge occurred it would require 2/3rds of both houses of Congress to ratify his removal from office. Double not gonna happen.

No. House Republicans should have refused to approve the CR with the provision in it. Senate Republicans will not approve the repeal.

Was the outcome better than keeping the government shut down and prolonging the suffering? I say yes because Republicans made it clear they were not going to restore the subsidies, but you probably think peoples' suffering should have prolonged. 4

We got a "senate that opens a government and gets nothing out of it" because a literal handful of Democrats changed their votes in an attempt to alleviate the suffering of federal employees, poor people, elderly people, disable people, and children. 1/4
