I don’t think he and most people know that a healing lodge is a recognized correctional institution that focuses more on rehabilitation using indigenous traditions instead of just punishment.

They think it’s like a clubhouse or something.

So ignorant some people.

Voila. Took EVERY cent I had from my last pay set aside for food, rent, meds, and utilities but when Rumi is in distress- I go into full autopilot.
He’s doing ok now. My face and head hurts from crying

They’re a great organization I’ve sent people to in Ontario. Unfortunately they only help low income folks in Ontario which in itself is amazing. We used to have something similar in Quebec but they turned into a rescue shelter after a few of the main donors passed on.

If I find out that twist tie was dropped by a repair person etc I’ll be really really pissed. I have a STRICT “don’t leave twist ties, rubber bands, and cotton swab” rule in my place. Plus those plastic can holders needed to be cut.

Eesh. What a day.
Started normal and went fine at work then I find myself at the vet spending every penny minus $1.75 to get an unknown twist tie out of my cat’s esophagus. Roller coaster to say the least. I’ll worry about food, rent, meds, and bills tomorrow. I’m just exhausted. 😩

Ouff I finally check things after getting home from the vet and (I’m not going to say her name not to jinx) is not doing so well. My heart absolutely won’t be able to take it if she leaves this earth before some as old/older very nasty people do. She’s my faith in humanity. 🙏❤️

Fortunately it was able to be done non surgically as they could grasp it via his throat. I don’t even want to know what a surgery would have entailed.

The culprit? A f**king twist tie— something I banned in my home over 20 yrs ago along with exposed elastic bands because of the danger to animals. Where he found this as a 100% indoors cat I have NO clue. I DO NOT use them.
No clue how I’m going to survive until the 17th but he’s safe. 🙏❤️❤️❤️

Ie: Healing Lodges or custody of tribal elders/community need to be factored in as POSSIBLE avenues.

It doesn’t change the rules. It just states that judges must consider their situation as well as part of planning fair release, etc.
