Excellent assessment of the situation and full marks to the Guardian for promoting independent journalism. This is much worse than Bush's invasion of Iraq when the US had to make a humiliating retreat, despite having 220,000 troops on the ground. If this is MAGA, think again US voters.

The rest of the world need to call this out as a blatant grab of Venezuelan oil and attempt to re-introduce the Monroe Doctrine. Trump must be isolated and left to play alone in his own school yard. Mark Carney is leading the way.

It's time for someone to write "The Rise and Fall of DJT". Unfortunately, he has seriously damaged the reputation of the USA. He is now a threat to Europe and his neighbours. New, stronger relationships are now being formed and it is the good people of America who will suffer.

A most comprehensive review of the law. These attacks make no tactical sense. Recently, a marine sniper in a Wildcat helicopter from a RN frigate wounded one of the crew on board a boat in the Caribbean. They then boarded it, proved it was carrying drugs, seized it and got useful intelligence.

I wrote this short article in March 2022, just after Russia invaded Ukraine. Later Putin tried to stop Ukraine from exporting its grain to the poor in the world. kentandsurreybylines.co.uk/business/foo...
Holodomor
In the spring of 1933, 17 people died of hunger every minute, more than 1,000 every hour, and almost 24,500 every day.

Simple. Putin has Trump on a string with promises of him building a Trump Tower in Moscow etc. Has Trump been compromised by Russian intelligence?

I live in Spain where the World Wildlife Fund have a target of planting 1100 trees in each of 8 regions. When forests and woodlands are being destroyed by man and fires, isn't it sensible to replace them? Malta would benefit from a few trees. Stopping CO2 is better than storing it under the ocean.

We must continue to explore space; our Sun will die one day. But I agree we should learn to look after our own world first. I don't agree terraforming the Sahara is a bad idea. If we don't reduce global warming southern Europe will become a desert. But we must do it in a measured and controlled way.

There are some who deny evolution. My main point is that now we are aware of it we can, and are beginning to, control our own evolution to adapt to new environments and improve our chances of survival as a species. But this brings great responsibility on how we use the new knowledge.

By humanity I mean the human species as a whole. I agree with your conclusions.
