Cool new paper on the nucleus retroambiguus and phonation control in mice. Authors ablate vocalization using Casp3, or use optogenetics to elicit vocalization, associated with projections to respiratory nuclei and correlated to laryngeal activity.

Lenition of aspirated stops to fricatives passes through an affricate intermediate kʰ → kx →x, pʰ →pɸ,pf →ɸ,f and that is so fun because there was this intermediate period where everyone in a language community was going around spitting on each other constantly via forceful aspiration. #langsky

Finally conjugating verbs like τίθημι and the origin of this sort of quasi passive looking form is something I am wondering about especially for a verb that means to place, or like δίδωμι. What's going on here, a question for google lol #langsky
