Hey @jd-vance-1.bsky.social - a comment on your presser today: you do realize that Mr Trump deep-sixed the most recent immigration deal because he wanted to run on it? (There is a long history of Republicans blocking bipartisan immigration reform - look up “gang of six”)

As I see it, the citizens most hurt by a shutdown in the near-term will be hurt by Trump and his unconstitutional actions in the mid- to long-term, so a shutdown only accelerates the timing of the pain. 1/

Spent a lovely evening here in SC with some “blue” friends wondering what is the “bridge to far” that prompts us to move; and where?? CA, WA, or overseas? (or do we stay/fight? We are all either 70+ or approaching 70 … do we have any fight left in us?) - so do we move - to the UK? Canada? Thoughts?

I am puzzled by all the appointments of sitting representatives to become Cabinet Secretaries… while the short-term effect may be small (R Govs will appoint another R), but in the special elections enough “buyers remorse” could flip some seats to D
