Today I made the trek out to NYC to see their Amorphophallus Titanum in bloom at the @nybg.bsky.social. The smells, the size -- everything about this bloom was incredible. Photos and videos simply cannot do it justice. Also, huge thanks to orchidmarc for letting me chat his ear off about it!

We've been slow to post, but busy at it with the plants and improving our watering routines. We just installed a 275-gallon IBC that'll be fed rain during the rainy times and reverse osmosis via a float valve when the water drops below a certain level. Not fully done, but I'll wrap this up tomorrow!

Throwback Thursday to our last trip to NYC. We visited the New York Botanical Gardens and got to see their Nepenthes Truncata (male) in bloom. I wanted to ask the NYBG so badly if they could send me some pollen, but I figure that's a long shot haha. Bonus N. Ventrata (massive) picture at the end.

Throwback Thursday to our last trip to NYC. We visited the New York Botanical Gardens and got to see their Nepenthes Truncata (male) in bloom. I wanted to ask the NYBG so badly if they could send me some pollen, but I figure that's a long shot haha. Bonus N. Ventrata (massive) picture at the end.
While Nepenthes Miranda may be one of the most widely available Nepenthes, we are always still mesmerized by the pitchers they produce. One thing is I've never seen a Miranda sold with upper pitchers (the last photo) and I find it's one of the most rewarding aspects of growing these for years.

The plants have been extra happy as of late and we'll soon be overflowing with all of this male pollen we've been given lately. I'll be posting some of these to the Nepenthes Mate Finder group on Facebook to see if we can find a good match. The female flower in the photo is my Gracilis (BE-4060).
