Maybe my perspective is different coming from infrastructure world but it's always been apparent to me since the 90s that the tech owners deeply resented being forced by supply and demand to treat some workers not like disposable garbage, very apparent when the first bubble burst.

I can't speak for Cubans but the one Venezuelan I know (who isn't a Trump fan generally) hates the corrupt regime and cartels and is happy for Trump to murder them

I don't remember enough that Thanksgiving as a national holiday was less about the pilgrims and more about a deeply wounded nation. Then of course later we made it about the pilgrims for obvious reasons

I feel the same way about Buckaroo Banzai as I do about Doc Savage: Man of Bronze. Weird ass sometimes funny sometimes cheesy sometimes just weird but fun movies that have the earnestness necessary to pull these sorts of films off

Are those foreign born imported for labor also citizens? That feels a significant difference to me if not, especially with none of those countries offering jus soli citizenship to my recollection

Is it perhaps just orthogonal to the point about ethnicity? They were and are real forces but they don't constitute an ethnicity for a nation to form around?
