Be WEIRD and LOUD so everyone else feels comfortable being their own weird as loudly as they want.

I believe fascists can learn empathy by being exposed to things that make them uncomfortable! We need to go help them!
If Queen did “God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You” instead of KISS, it would have been a gargantuan hit. #music

Another day of not knowing which brings me more joy, “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione, or the album artwork for “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione. It’s one of the most feel-good pictures I’ve ever seen. I look at it a lot.

I want a Felix the cat clock but with Geena Davis’s face instead. 👀

Lake Street Dive are the new Pretenders.

Spotify thinks I would be interested in the new Kid Rock single. ☹️ what did I do to deserve this?

Gestation is when you are getting yourself “organized.”

We like to think medieval peasants would lose their minds if they heard modern music. And they would, but not in a good way. The second a peasant heard a single trap beat, they would think we have all been possessed by the devil. And the more it made them dance, the more they would think that.

Jelly Roll is a lighter version of Imagine Dragons meets Luke Combs.

Luke Combs is the singer Jelly Roll wants to be. Luke Combs is definitely in the running for strongest man’s voice of a generation. #music

Is Jelly Roll the new Kid Rock? I don’t listen to Jelly Roll, and I recognize that Kid Rock in his prime is a much stronger singer than anybody wants to give him credit for. Is Jelly Roll similar in any way?

Someone needs to mash up “This Must Be the Place” by Talking Heads and “Baby, Baby” by Amy Grant. They shouldn’t have done it yesterday.

It really bothers me when people older than me quote my words back to me to describe how they feel months after I said those words, yet don’t take me seriously even after they realize I gave them those words. I know it’s a quirk of me being younger, but I can’t take people who do that seriously.

America does what will help the economy and does not do what will not help the economy. Renting a home is bad for people, but good for the economy. Financial literacy classes are good for people but bad for the economy. Things that break quickly are bad for people, but good for the economy.

One of the things our education system needs to teach people is how to find something to do. It’s so jarring going from daily K-12 to a world where you need to find something to do. And finding something to do is often how you find what you love and want to do.

The Jacob Collier version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” has been added to Karafun so you can sing it for karaoke, so that’s fucking insane. Absolutely NO WAY one person can sing that. 🙅🏻‍♂️ I would LOVE to be proven wrong.

Depth in music is artistic substance you may not get the first time you listen to a song, but you get more of every time you listen to it.

Shallowness is the artistic substance you get the most of the first time you hear something, but you get less of every time you hear it.

Personal theory.

Jazz musicians everywhere should be very concerned that Netflix is trying to corner the “things you put on to have in the background” market.

Please somebody go watch Kent Nishimura’s guitar work on YouTube. It’s unreal. And so approachable. His cover of “Rosanna” by Toto is ASTOUNDING. But really, pick any song you know. They are all so well done. Holy cow.

I feel like a lot of people don’t know the World Trade Center was replaced by a shopping mall in the shape of a giant eye. 👁️ something something dystopia.

It’s not that I want every nazi to burn in hell indefinitely, it’s that I recognize that they won’t stop until they get burned so hell needs to be brought to them.

While I generally support the 2nd amendment, I think it’s wild that Colorado’s “make my day” law is named for the people who are hungry to kill other people, whom the law aims to protect. 🫩

Went to the auto show today with my parents who are car shopping. Holy goodness I did not realize how practical the auto show is if you are shopping for a new car. Everything is literally right there.

We could end for-profit prisons in ten years if we just got school teachers to stop lying to their students by saying slavery is illegal in America.

Why do modern Christians think they should commit to one lifelong partner so that everyone else can do the same (sexual socialism = monogamy), yet people should have to fight for food and shelter? I know they’re not thinkers, but it’s downright impossible to respect people who feel that way.

People who do stuff to own the libs can’t wrap their minds around how badly they are owning the libs. Libs are people who believe all people should be free, and people who work against them are working to prove that they themselves should not be free, since hate should not have freedom to act.

Yesterday somebody told me that because they don’t feel comfortable dancing in front of people, they had to leave the room to go dance alone for a minute after I was done leading a song at the church. I still can’t wrap my mind around that. That’s probably the best compliment I’ve ever received.
