My bonkers indie horror comedy Beyond the Chamber of Terror is now on Tubi & Prime Video!

Again, a big thanks to Terror Films Releasing for making it happen!

Thankfully, Stranger Things 5 sticks the landing with a satisfyingly bittersweet (if safe) finale after a rickety, series-worst lead-up. Issues aside, it’s been a helluva run for this amazing cultural phenomenon.

The 10 films I dug most in 2025.

Pink Floyd celebrate Wish You Were Here’s 50th Anniversary with this superb Blu ray which includes four audio mixes. The 5.1 mix is an absolute stunner. IMO, there has never been a more brilliant string of albums than these three monumental masterworks.

Very sad to hear of the passing of great character actor James Ransone. Far too soon. He was always a highlight of anything he popped up in. He will be missed but never forgotten. RIP.

James Cameron’s AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH is yet another spectacular technical feat. Narratively, it’s muddled, overstuffed, and doesn’t explore any significant new ground. Despite being the weakest instalment, it’s still more often than not an awe-inspiring big screen experience.

Devastated to learn of the tragic deaths of the legendary Rob Reiner and his wife. He left behind an incredible, diverse body of work, some of which had a profound impact on me. RIP.

WAKE UP DEAD MAN is yet another fine entry in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out Mystery series. The gothic backdrop lends the film a darker tone but Johnson’s steady hand and ace cast maintain the fun, playful formula that’s worked thus far.

Quentin Tarantino's 275-minute KILL BILL: THE WHOLE AFFAIR is everything I wanted it to be & more. Brilliant (& bloody) new material aside, unifying both volumes as originally intended, along with one specific omission make the emotional journey we go on with The Bride significantly more profound.

Pupi Avati’s chilling slow burn masterpiece THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS might be the most criminally underseen horror film. Hopefully that changes with @arrowvideo.bsky.social ‘s phenomenal LE 4K UHD. This is easily one of the year’s best physical media releases of 2025.

Paul Morrissey’s Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula stand apart from every adaptation that’s come before and since. At their core is Udo Kier’s wholly unique portrayals of the title characters. Cult cinema at its best.

Saddened to hear that we lost the incomparable Udo Kier. He left behind a treasure trove of remarkable performances for generations to discover. RIP.

Edgar Wright’s THE RUNNING MAN is one of the most skillfully crafted & imaginative sci-fi action pictures in recent memory. It falls short of greatness due to its wild tonal struggles, which are especially apparent in the clunky & overtly convoluted third act. Regardless, this is a helluva ride.

How did PREDATOR: BADLANDS end up being the blockbuster of the year?! The script, acting (wow, Elle Fanning) & craftsmanship are stellar. This film has it all: kickass action, laughs, stakes, and a big, beating heart. This is franchise cinema done right.

Peter Manoogian’s taut & vicious 1987 B action thriller ENEMY TERRITORY is one of the cool discoveries of the year, courtesy of this stellar @arrowvideo.bsky.social release. Would be a fun pairing with similar indie contained thrillers like Assault on Precinct 13 or Siege.

RIP Diane Ladd.

Tobe Hooper’s 1990 supernatural thriller I’M DANGEROUS TONIGHT is surprisingly fun TV movie fare. It’s pure Young Adult territory but commits to its very silly premise with conviction, and grounded by Mädchen Amick’s sincere performance. Stellar release from @kinolorber.com .

Saddened to hear that Kiss’ legendary lead guitarist Ace Frehley has passed away. He was hands down, my favourite member of the band. I was fortunate to experience the original lineup live twice, and even met Ace at a Kiss convention during my youth. Gone but never forgotten. RIP Spaceman.

Shane Black returns with gusto on the manic action caper, PLAY DIRTY. With its indecipherable plot, dull characters & mostly flat humour, this is lower tier Black. Yet despite its flaws, Play Dirty amuses as a gleefully violent, mean-spirited piece of pulp cinema.
October 14, 2025 at 7:19 PM
Very saddened to hear that we lost the iconic Diane Keaton. A true original. RIP.

TRON: ARES presents some compelling ideas/themes but doesn’t explore them in any meaningful way. That aside, this is slick, action-packed blockbuster fun with some cool callbacks to the OG. Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack is an absolute banger. Overall, a worthy entry in the series.

Rob Zombie’s HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES book is a thing of beauty. This dense, impressively put together hardcover comes with his personal copy of the shooting script, concept art, production stills and much more. Highly recommended for fans or anyone interested in the filmmaker’s process.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s frenetic political thriller ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER brilliantly juggles tonal shifts, satire & tense drama similarly to Aster’s underrated Eddington. It’s funny, entertaining but never at the expense of its high stakes. One of the year’s best.

Tom Savini’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD remake gets the release its long deserved. The 4K restoration is gorgeous. There’s a brand new Uncensored Version with a cool B&W intro, the Theatrical Cut, along with a fine collection of new & old supplements. One of my fav releases of 2025.

I love me a small town crime thriller and the hauntingly ominous GOOD AS DEAD from @image is already shaping up to be a great new addition to the genre. First issues don’t get much more compelling than this.
