Her work and views were esteemed by her colleagues. She was a committed teacher, respected and often loved by her students. She had a wicked sense of humour and was a true and trusted friend.

With great sadness, MILC notes the death in Colchester on April 18 of Professor Francoise Hampson from the University of Essex. She had a formidable intellect, particularly in the field of international humanitarian and human rights law.
