Both my wife sister and my sister live out of state. Both our parents live a mile from us. It puts the pressure on to be the central meeting place. Are either of our siblings coming in town for either holiday? Nope! So we either put on dinner and host or our parents do nothing alone.

Every year I tell my wife we are out on hosting both Thanksgiving and Xmas. We talk about skipping town just the two of us and the dog. Every goddamn year we cave and host. *sigh* It has really taken the joy out of the holidays.
