Terrified to announce 11/25/25 release. A journey of weird record stores, grimy clubs, and starting venerable label Bloodshot Records. History, memoir, how-to, and a cautionary call to support indie arts communities before they are gone.

His mom was my junior high English teacher. The Monday after his SNL appearance, she was regarded as some sort of ethereal creature on another plane of existence in the dingy, yellow-ish hallways.

And she was very giddy and proud.

I genuinely enjoy these daily snippets. Thanks.

I cannot disagree with you.
It drove me to Devo and the Dead Kennedys, so I guess I have to thank them for that.

Cannot recommend more highly: Casa Guerdes for pork sammiches. Cheap, local lunch counter type place. Skip the cheese. Eat outside if you can, with a bottle of Coke.

As a Detroit-born person, I have to go with Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"

Just a city boy/
Born and raised in South Detroit.

South Detroit would be...um...smack dab in the middle of the Detroit River. Or perhaps Windsor, Ontario

(Tho, TBH, this is an execrable song for so many reasons)

WORST LYRICS EVER:

“Only time will tell if we pass the test of time”

Gee, that "Open Your Eyes" song still sounds kinda relevant...

I'll give you seven (7!) American dollars for this. I'll even come pick it up. Think about it...

I've always been fond of this one, but yours works too.

How I missed them after seeing Minor Threat a couple of times ...I just don't know.

Black and white flyer from a show at the Freezer Theater in Detroit. A Line drawing of a skull in a guillotine, and the bands Minor Threat, Meatmen, and Negative Approach listed.

One thing about owning an indie label for 25+ years is that I was so immersed/focused/obsessed in my corner of the biz, I missed a lot of great bands that I am just now "discovering."
Guess what? Turns out that Fugazi is a fucking great band.

And you'll be out there on the front lines speaking out for us, right?
RIGHT?

Or is the occasion for another sternly worded letter?

Quick! To the Quigley Cave to write another stern letter!

Hey, I was at that show.

Sounded like shit and the drummer was too drunk to play, so the Necros drummer had to fill in.

Sadly, I think there's a decent chunk of folks in Beverly, Mt Greenwood, and the far NW part of the city that are kinda ok with what is happening.

I mean, I still like our odds, but there's a good number of folks that ain't leaving their La-Z-boys over this.

There's no way I would have heard of Rossini and Wagner before the age of 12 without this.

I often wonder about something similar as I see lawns with half buried "spooky skeletons"---aka human bones. I live in an area of Chicago with many Khmer and Lao refugees. I taught ESL to this community. There are people with not-too-distant memories of this happening for reals. Happy Halloween?

And, knowing it was his last music, the last track, "Silver and Gold" hits so very hard. Every time. Carpe Diem.

There at the cabin. Likely too late. They were dropping early and these are ones the squirrels...um...squirreled away.

But seriously, they are size of lemons this year...sounds like a gunshot whenever one hits the garage roof.

I hope to see the day when their music is no longer relevant.
