People need to be attracted to the protagonists/LIs to enjoy a book? (Genuinely asking, it's a wild concept for me. I write romantic subplots and don't feel attracted to my characters ever. Same when I read romance, regardless of gender.)

I read that all the time about why m/m is popular, but by the same logic f/f should be popular too. Yet, it isn't. Signed: a sad bi woman who wished sapphic fiction was as popular as m/m. (It isn't an attack against m/m; m/m is GREAT!)
