We have some news: after 26 successful years with the company she co-founded, Mimbre is proud to celebrate the incredible journey and contributions of Lina Johansson, as she prepares to take a step back as Joint Artistic Director, to focus on other ventures.

Today Mimbre's Joint Artistic Director Silvia Fratelli turns 50, almost exactly at the same time as her 30 years in circus anniversary! We thought it apt to celebrate her with a tiny retrospective of all the Mimbre projects she has been throwing herself into, both literally and figuratively!

Start them early!! Connecting with fellow circus company Upswing, some of the Showdown cast came in to teach the last summer class for Mimbre Youth. The kids were super impressed and inspired with the acrobats; got to try banquine and some lifts; and had a great, fun end-of-term class!

Some lovely feedback and pictures from this term of Mimbre Youth, by @heardinlondon.bsky.social. One of our aims is to teach fun skills so the participants enjoy moving. It’s lovely to see when that works and the difference it can make to the young people we work with!

We're at the Young V&A in Bethnal Green tomorrow! Come see us perform at 11am, then there will be two drop-in workshops at 12 midday and 12.30pm. See you there!

This year Mimbre secured support from the Jack Petchey Foundation, which means we can celebrate our young people’s achievements each term with a special treat! In the spring term Ruzlana won the award for her constant positive energy, encouragement and care for everyone in our Maxi group.

This term Mimbre Youth went on a trip to The Roundhouse to meet and play with other youth circuses from London, organised by Ed and London Youth Circus at the National Centre for Circus Arts. Thank you for a great day!

We have a long term relationship with Rydals Museum and many of the students we have previously taught there came to see this year’s performance of Weight(less). It’s wonderful to keep that connection going.

We were thrilled to bring Weight(less) to the Internationales Straßentheater Festival in Holzminden at the beginning of June. The crowds were incredible, engaged and so supportive! Turning up en masse even with a thunderstorm weather warning looming over the weekend!

We were absolutely thrilled to see Kiki, a member of our Mimbre Youth, featured in @arsenalfc.bsky.social 's programme Saturday just gone - she's brilliant!
An article from the Arsenal football programme featuring a first person account from a young person, Kiki. It starts: "My name is Kiki, I’m 12 years old and I have two younger brothers. We are a very sporty family, and I have been dancing and doing gymnastics since I was two. My mum even said when I was five months old and she was changing my nappy that I starting dancing, wiggling on the changing mat to her music. Now, I train with Mimbre doing dance and acrobatics, and I’m also part of the London Youth Circus at the National Centre for Circus Arts." A new term, new moves, and the same Mimbre magic! From April 29th, every Tuesday for young people ages 6-16. Participants will engage in acrobatics, dance & performance, fostering skill development and support in a welcoming environment! 🤩🌏
