The Mine Ban Treaty does NOT permit suspensions. Obligations apply at all times, in all circumstances.

Just because the Mine Ban Treaty doesn’t explicitly talk about suspensions doesn’t mean suspensions are allowed.

On World Humanitarian Day, we honours deminers risking their lives to make communities safe from landmines and cluster munitions.

Mine action programs are underfunded, which means fewer teams in the field, slower clearance, and communities forced to live longer with fear.

#Estonia, #Latvia, #Lithuania, #Poland, #Finland, and #Ukraine have chosen a future where their children must learn how to avoid landmines.

This is the grim reality these countries are choosing for future generations.

Landmines don’t defend borders — they destroy lives.
