I am an urban animal, I just love cities. All places I have lived & worked have at least a million people (Chengdu, Shanghai, Philly, NY, DC, Singapore). My MA thesis was on Urban Revolution & Western Democracy. In my Ph.D. program I wanted to teach in rural central PA. Fate did not turn that way.🤓

我刚拿到样书：《燃烧的雪国青春：贵族少爷、政治犯和流亡政府特工》。作者德庆嘉措生长在拉萨官宦贵族大家庭，和达赖喇嘛、萨迦法王、甚至中共统战的藏人高层都沾亲带故，他四十年的见证透露许多秘闻以及他的不顾生死的冒险经历。我作为编译者第一时间就受益匪浅，在此郑重向关心西藏文化历史、“民主改革”和文革、藏人高层受难经历、西藏流亡政府等的读者推荐！

From an ocean of fallen leaves, a dove carefully picked up one piece of fiber-like stuff. I am wondering, is this for building a nest or making bedding more comfortable?

今天收到1989年上海学运被逮捕的学运领袖、当时上海师范大学学生顾凯转来的回忆往事的推文。经历三个12生肖后还能萦绕心怀不能忘却，可见89学运影响深远。
我不后悔我的选择。巧在昨晚再看电影《颐和园》，回忆起自己的大学校园生活，有理想，有焦虑，有冲动，有爱情，有匮乏，有失望。这些都是青年反抗的缘由。我不相信今天的中国大学生、年轻人比我们当时的冲动和理想要更低。

Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi or Lingzi, 灵芝), is used in traditional Chinese medicine. For me, it is always related to the romantic story, The Legend of White Snake (白蛇传), about how a woman saves her lover. So I am always delighted at seeing them in the forest.

Contemplating on all disasters, including my research on earthquake in China and the current Epstein Files scandal, Dara Strolovitch's book is very enlightening. Only when the people who think they suppose to be privileged for whatever reasons get hurt, change will come.
