It’s a tough call. A lot of soft Republicans who might otherwise stay home would show up to vote against her.

But she also has more potential to turn out new voters than anyone else I can imagine.

Core insight:
@veghzsuzsanna.bsky.social: The illiberal challenge in Europe is neither uniform nor monolithic. Illiberal actors differ in ideology, strategy & voter base; combining nationalist, religious, xenophobic, & populist narratives in distinct ways. Understanding this variation is 🗝️

A historian colleague of mine once blew someone’s mind after he asked “can’t you just look that up online?” and she replied “who do you think finds that stuff and puts it online?”

It is rumoured that one must be resurrected at a Hippocrat’s hands to become a Hippocrat, but their oaths forbid them revealing whether this is true.

Even a neophyte Hippocrat can recover a person on the brink of death; the skilled may recover the recently dead.

During resurrection, the patient feels every injury they have intentionally inflicted on another. Many thus come back changed ... or in the twilight state, they accept death instead.

Some Hippocrats travel together with small bands of adventurers … which makes many people wary of adventurers who do not have a Hippocrat with them.

A Hippocrat may reverse their magic, to deal a wounding or even deadly touch.

This of course violates their oath … except when exercised against someone who wears a Hippocrat’s cloak deceitfully.

A Hippocrat who breaks their oath loses their magical abilities, but they are also well-versed in mundane healing arts and may continue to wear a torn fragment of their cloak.

Some societies respect the Torn more than true Hippocrats.

Hippocrats’ oath does not compel them to seek the greatest need.

Many of them enjoy the comforts of life in the courts of the nobility. But many more tend the poor, or soldiers, or adventurers. Or they travel.

Hippocrats may accept hospitality but not coin.

They are welcomed •almost• everywhere.

Many societies forbid harming a Hippocrat, but some do not. A few hate them.

Call them “Hippocrats”.

They can heal with a touch. More severe injuries and illnesses take more time & attention.

They are oathbound to heal anyone before them whom they can.

They practice triage when they must. They often must.

Heat kills
Cold kills

Climate control is life
No Arizonan, no matter where they live, should have to suffer in dangerous heat or cold because their landlord fails to maintain safe living conditions.
