LOVED watching Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. Watching the chapters in order, bonus scenes (including what happens to The Pussy Wagon). Outstanding.

A week by train, visiting old friends of Arles and Heidelberg, and learning loads in Avignon. In Heidelberg, I reflected a lot on my semester as an Erasmus student: what a privilege that turned out to be, and how many opportunities have been taken away from young Brits cos of a selfish Brexit vote?

Learning about the history and culture of Slovenia and Croatia. Definitely recommend Ljubljana and Zagreb for great food, museums, 80s music and exploring. The past, and the present, in both countries is complicated and there are good museums and walking tours to try to help understand these.

An excellent weekend of walking, time with lovely people and a dog, have helped reset some priorities. Photos of what I've been doing and what I will be doing in a few weeks' time. The reset is around working hours and making a much bigger commitment in the long-term....

Because life is sometimes about going somewhere new (to me) and doing something new. Le Mans 24 hours Classic cars, followed by 5 nights in St Malo. Meandering back (on TGV at 230 km/h) via Paris. I am very fortunate.

Escapism to a degree, but also appreciating where I am and the freedom to get out and about. I heart weekends. Cxx

Train from Rodez to Brive-Le-Galliarde then to Paris yesterday; on the Eurostar to London and up to York this afternoon. It is important to do things because they are there and they give much-needed head-space.

Today, to Rodez, really because it is here. It is a lovely town, on an even lovelier, single-track, single carriage train that could, with stunning views.

Today's train adventure: intercity to Cahors. It is 5 hours 48 minutes of travelling south along the river Seine, then the river Lot. I've just seen the Orient Express parked up!

In Paris! Afternoon train to That Big London, crossed the road to St Pancras station, checked in for evening Eurostar (which took 5 whole minutes) and rolled into Paris about an hour ago. Tomorrow, a train south...

Today is the first day of annual leave, with a train adventure every day. First up, volunteering at Pickering Station, where Sir Nigel Gresley is doing the honours (plus a home Class 37). And we have a sweet shop!
