Christian, but not the Evangelical kind. Former Republican. OG NeverTrumper. Still making my Xodus to BlueSky and Threads. Me from ninth grade through 2015 would never have believed how far left 2024 me got.
This is exactly right. This was and is a matter where both Adam Kinzinger and AOC are on the same page. Ideological differences can be worked out later. Right now we just need people who won’t back down.

Thank you for fighting, no matter how tiring it is. This really isn’t a left vs moderate thing. People like Adam Kinzinger were against this too. Right now you are fighting for us former Republicans too, and I’m very grateful.

At least you were 13. I bought Hannity’s Let Freedom Ring as a grown-ass adult, read it, and liked it. It’s the sort of thing where whenever anyone questions my intelligence I can think back to that book and be like, yeah, I know. 😢😬🤷‍♂️

Yes! I have a photo of myself with new Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, taken back when I was a huge fan of the GOP and went to GOP rallies. And now? 😬 The coalition to save America must include a lot of us with foolish pasts.

Not necessarily. I was reading weirdo Christian fundamentalist books. They were nice about it but not encouraging. Turns out they were right about almost everything, including that those books didn’t actually represent real Christlike Christianity.

I’m pretty far to the right of Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, and AOC, yet I’m absolutely loving them these days. Someday the Left will have to sort out differences but for now I’m happy to be part of a broad coalition.

I’d say too that a lot of the suburban college-educated voters Democrats gained were fairly socially conservative a decade or so ago but have moved steadily leftward on social issues over the last many years.

It is the case that Democrats ought to do what they can to win the working class back. It’s also true that millions of college educated white folks in suburbs who voted for McCain/Romney are basically Dem base voters at this point.

I’m definitely not as far left as Sanders, Warren, and AOC, but I love the fire they bring to this moment. Sometimes it’s not about where exactly one sits in the ideological spectrum but the passion and ability to communicate they bring.

Here in Minnesota, maybe we need to ask Tina Smith to reconsider her decision to not seek reelection. That’s awesome!

(To be sure, our LTGov is gearing up to run for that seat, and she’d be great in the Senate.)

And the thing too is McCain and Romney campaigned on being tough on Putin and the GOP liked it, but then Trump comes along and the GOP gives up on opposing Russian aggression.

Absolutely. I loved that she did a cover of Depeche Mode’s Just Can’t Get Enough a few weeks ago. DM is one of my all-time favorites and Kelly took their song a made it sound fantastic in a completely different style.

Definitely enjoying it. Even the less funny parts still make me sentimental.
