if you care for mmo style pvp: Guildwars 2 has great structured and large scale pvp. I was trying to find a shooter rec to add to this but we sure are in a drought of not mega Corp shooter releases... If you like rhythm games, DJMax has a great friendly and competitive pvp scene of all skill levels.
