He called for universal healthcare in 2007 so I am not sure what you mean abandoned long before the campaign. He did like right around when he announced his campaign actually.

If they nuked the filibuster they never would have needed casey
February 7, 2026 at 9:38 AM
I am coming back to this because it really is mind boggling to me, bringing up the civil rights act just passed because of voting as if the civil rights movement didn’t exist, saying the new deal happened without deadly strikes and organizing didn’t happen. Just the blatant disregard of the history
February 7, 2026 at 2:19 AM
Did I say not to vote? Did I say elections don’t matter? NO! I said voting is not enough and has NEVER been enough.
February 7, 2026 at 1:59 AM
Ever since Citizen’s united that is exactly how it has worked actually, you bring up the New Deal as if Clinton didn’t repeal the protections that would have prevented the 2008 recession (republicans helped too pf course.) Deregulation has happened under both parties. Look up Glass Steagall’s repeal

In 2016 when Trump won the first time I guess nearly 3 million people just didn’t vote hard enough, damn what a shame. About half a million in 2000 too, we sure do have such weak voters apparently :/
February 7, 2026 at 1:50 AM
They won because the ELECTORAL COLLEGE voted for them not people.
February 7, 2026 at 1:47 AM
So you agree that voting isn’t enough to keep the GOP from winning? Thanks.
February 7, 2026 at 1:44 AM
If losing the popular vote can still lose you the election, what does voting do alone? Voting has never been enough when the government has been structured to make sure voting benefits the rich and powerful. Voting will not save us, it never has historically. Fascism is here, you can’t vote that out
February 7, 2026 at 1:43 AM
Hahaha they win in the electoral college and lose the popular vote in every election until the latest one where a old man sunk the campaign and democrats completely abandoned all of the issues they had been running on for the last decade plus. Not to mention the genocide BOTH parties supported.
February 7, 2026 at 1:37 AM
They have defectors that have 0 impact on whether their bills pass or not. Democrats had 56 senators when Obama took office, if they used the nuclear option they could have passed anything and everything that they wanted! They refused to do that, you know why? They didn’t want to!
February 7, 2026 at 1:34 AM
We have BEEN voting, they have been not fulfilling any of their campaign promises. You can vote all day long but if there is no pressure to do what they say then nothing will ever change. If there are defectors there should be primaries but they WANT to fail because their donors want them to.
February 7, 2026 at 1:31 AM
So why is it that the democrats do? Why isn’t that the democrats won’t use the nuclear option (get rid of the filibuster) to get their supposed platform positions passed but republicans will? Why is it that when democrats can do everything the gop can that they don’t? CAPITAL! Strikes need to happen
February 7, 2026 at 1:27 AM
And Voting is going to fix the senate how? Each state regardless of population gets 2 senators, it is one facet of the MANY antidemocratic institutions in our government. That is why the senate even exists btw. You have to do more than voting to put pressure on the senate. GOP doesn’t have defectors
February 7, 2026 at 1:24 AM
Yes even though it was based off of HIS LAW, HE WAS THE ONE POSTURING. He was going to oppose anything Obama put forward regardless because it was politically expediate for him to do so. It was almost word for word the same as his bill after the public option was removed.
February 7, 2026 at 1:21 AM
Obama had a super majority but completely abandoned codifying roe v wade into law after he was elected also btw, like I was 11 when he was elected and it seems I know more about his presidency than you I guess 🤷‍♀️
February 7, 2026 at 1:11 AM
Done
February 7, 2026 at 1:08 AM
Feel free to provide any links, you can vote in the same democrats who have been in power for the last 40-50 years and hope change happens but it won’t unless there is pressure for them to that outweighs the millions and billions they get from corporate donors and billionaires. Voting won’t fix it
February 7, 2026 at 1:04 AM
The ACA was based on Romney care, you can look that up actually, Obama did in fact run on universal healthcare. He also ran on immigration reform then deported more immigrants than any other president, bombed more civilians, etc. The thing about history is that it is out there for you to look up.
February 7, 2026 at 1:00 AM
I guess I missed the part where the democrat party platformed even a single trans member at the DNC, or support trans rights in their platform. Maybe I imagined the part where Biden weakened title 9 protections for trans students playing sports,or Gavin Newsom platforming/agreeing with transphobes
February 7, 2026 at 12:58 AM
…Won’t make things better because neither party are even accountable to us they are accountable to their “donors”. Organizing mutual aid, general strikes, etc is what makes things like the New Deal and Civil Rights act happen, not voting alone.
February 7, 2026 at 12:48 AM
Obama ran on medicare for all and then passed a moderate republican healthcare bill as his premier achievement and the last major achievement democrats have made. The Citizens United decision legalized bribery and both parties get to decide who we vote for while doing nothing for us. Voting alone…
