Follow the construction of the replicas, preparation, design of the exhibit, etc, up to being mounted in Museu Geológico de Lisboa

FYI for anyone still in doubt, Miragaia never went away because the last authors to allege it to be synonymous with D. armatus only discussed 10 out of the 27 differences found between M. longicollum MG 4863 and the holotype of D. armatus. Find out more in our @palaeovc.bsky.social video! #Miragaia

For anyone that might have been confused for the past few months if Miragaia longicollum is a valid species or not, we have a video-talk right now in the Palaeontological Virtual Congress demonstrating how it differs from D. armatus - mostly reiterating what was already demonstrated in Costa & Mateus (2019), as the last authors that alleged that M. longicollum would be synonymous with D. armatus only discussed 10 out of the 27 characters found to differ M. longicollum MG 4863 from the holotype of D. armatus. This research differs the most from previous for being the first with first-hand comparisons of both NHMUK PV OR 46013 (the type specimen for Dacentrurinae) and MG 4863 (the most complete dacentrurine in the world), as well as with many other stegosaur type-specimens. In our presentation you can find many never-before-seen photos of both holotypes, MG 4863 and other specimens comparing these species. And to start off, here's something from almost a year ago, when we did a preview of the project in Aljustrel (Alentejo, PT), neeearly ready but with a few parts unfinished, so focused on the making-of.
You can expect the final exhibit in MG early next year 🙂
