At 12 noon on March 15, 1998, Pope John Paul II beatified Bishop Evgeniy Bosilkov in Rome. On May 26, 2002, at a special liturgy-blessing at Central Square in Plovdiv, Pope John Paul II beatified Fathers Josafat Shishkov, Pavel Dzhidzhov, and Kamen Vichev.

They were sentenced to death on charges of Catholic conspiracy against state security in one of the series of Catholic Trials that the pro-Stalinist authorities in Bulgaria conducted against the Bulgarian Catholic community.
