The last PTA film I watched was so long that I literally got half of my upper-arm tattooed while watching it

I like that you can see that I was getting really desperate by the Found Footage round ("Clowns???")

(In my defence the Ti West film WAS "the cult one" but I just couldn't remember the bloody name!!)

Although the cardinal sin of that podcast episode was both the host and guest being against dogs at weddings.

Please include dogs in your weddings. For the Miriams in attendance.

If the Susan and Carol plotline was exactly the same but Carol was a man, more people would understand how terrible Susan and Carol are. I will die on this hill about a minor plotline in a sitcom I don't care that much about and haven't watched since 2007!!!

That's true. Often I'll read a tweet or an article and think, "well I actually agree with you on XYZ but your tone is so obnoxious and condescending that I have a kneejerk angry reaction to it". A lot of people who do activism for a living seem to think that winning hearts and minds is a wealness.

I don't know if that's entirely fair or limited to leftists (I'm left-leaning although I don't know if that makes me a leftist), and the article was in general very sweet-natured on the joys of travelling through books. I would have just tweaked it to avoid the critical tone.

I may have shallow knowledge but I'm very happy in my "novels, comics and short-story collections with the occasional non-fiction history book, memoir or essay collectiom to balance it out" annexe thank you very much. I will never willingly read about economics for fun. NEVER.

Also this was mostly inspired by a Guardian article I read earlier this week. But also a little by a chapter in Hwang Bo-Reum's book encouraging people to read widely by branching out into philosophy, psychology, ecomics and my kneejerk reaction being "I WOULD RATHER DIE".

But mostly, I think the least effective way to get anyone to do anything is scolding them. And this is coming from someone who reads Japanese books fifty per cent of the time, reads more women than men (not intentionally), and loves books in translation.

A huge chunk of British people were students after the curriculum was changed to incorporate more diverse writers. And preceding even that, a lot of the British canonical classics people read have been by women (Austen, the Brontes, Elliot etc) rather than "dead white men."
