My girl Browny never liked rain storms. She was terrified. Today we had a nice heavy (brief) downpour. The sound of the rain hitting the zinc roof is something I love but since Melissa, my doggies get so scared
Browny wanted to bolt to under the house, she was so scared she was shaking.🥺

There’s a saying in Jamaica: Trouble doesn’t set like rain. Basically, trouble doesn’t announce itself, it just comes. In Melissa’s case, it was the actual lack of set up that warned me. Barely a breeze blew on Oct 27 2025. Birds were quiet. The calm before the storm WAS the warning.

Being prepared for a storm doesn’t mean being comfortable. Having experienced a Category 5 storm before gave me a checklist of what I needed to do as best as I could. But comfort was nonexistent. No sleep for me a few days before Melissa because I knew it was going to be bad…

It's been almost a month aince the storm. Internet is still spotty, but at least we have phone service. Hurricane season is almost done and I am working to make early December my journey back to normalcy. This is a DEVASTATING reset #jamaica
