Just seen the Clarivate "apology."
The only good thing about it is the fact that I can spend a little more time identifying ways to move away from their ebook offering without making any rash decisions.

Saw the very frustrating Clarivate/Proquest announcement this morning.
Just as well the budget review is coming up. Gives me an excuse to see what other ebook vendors have to offer. Even if I could have done without the extra workload this will cause...

Watched #Section31. I couldn't tell if the writers and director were trying to make a show reel/audition piece for a Marvel film or one of the more nonsensical Doctor Who episodes.

In the past I'd usually post my introspective round up of the previous year. But today I don't want to, mostly because I'm glad to see the back of 2024.

However my wish for the start of a new year is the same for as always for everyone:
May the best of last year be the worst of this year.

I need to figure out a new coping mechanism for work or learn how not to care so much about the service.
I don't want to be a harbinger of doom and gloom but I can only really see a dumpster fire on the horizon...

Spent fair bit of last night and early this morning looking at the snow falling.
Now I have two regrets:
1. I didn't take an photos of snow coating the buildings in the neighbourhood
2. More importantly, I wasn't able to have a braai in the falling snow

Any librarians out there doing or have done the Advanced HEA Fellowship?
I'm looking at doing it, but have questions about a couple aspects and how to translate the work we do into something that's applicable.

I think any literature search training session where I can include dinosaurs in an example to keep students engaged is a good session.

Looking at the new EBSCO UI roadmap.
Looks pretty, but the functionality on the discovery service I actually need to test appears to only be available in July.
