I think the biggest difference I see re: the AI bubble and the dot com bubble is they didn't have to force people to use the internet.

I still wish the KDE file manager was just called kfilemanager
not just because I think "dolphin" is a bad thing to name a file manager since it's not very descriptive but I also get whiplash going from kcalc kwrite keverythingelse and then suddenly the file manager is dolphin.

I think that even if Linux has some pain points, and even if your niche hardware or software doesn't work in the short term, it's worth switching for the long term. The more people switch, the more likely software gets native Linux versions and niche hardware gets Linux drivers.

I've been on Linux for over a month at this point, and I gotta say...
I have been able to do everything I could do on Windows, sometimes better than on Windows. Sometimes things need a tweak or two, but aside from that? Really good.

I am increasingly convinced that finance degrees and STEM degrees should include a high level ethics course as a requirement, like something you would not be able to pass with chatgpt.

tbqh I think that if Fedora included a way to install multimedia codecs and nvidia drivers in the installer it would probably be my go-to recommendation for new Linux users (as a new Linux user).

I wish Linux usb's had an option to "boot into linux" that would pop up once you flash the usb so that you could get to the live session without fiddling with bios, since it would help a lot of non-techy people who are scared of bios.
