Sept. 21, 1775: Cannon arrive from Fort Ticonderoga to help American Gen. Richard Montgomery in his siege of Britain’s Fort St. Jean in Quebec. However, the guns are of too small caliber, and the artillerymen too inexperienced. Shots bounce off the fort’s eastern walls to no effect.

If I were president during the 250th anniversary of Lexington & Concord, I'd insist on being there in costume and on horseback. I'd ride to each skirmish site and drink in the taverns.
