Real oldie, animal lover, politics nerd. Marched against Cruise missiles, the Iraq war, and protested last night for justice and peace in Palestine. Love to cook and garden. John Denver and his music. Original Star Trek fan and love it more today.
Glad to hear you're doing well. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sweetheart ... life's too short!

We all need a little fat for the winter ... 😉

My stuffing is stale breadcrumbs, plenty of butter, onion, salt and pepper and sage, mixed with beaten egg. Not cooked in the turkey, but in a wrapped roll for slicing. Someone else does the chestnut and pork stuffing with apricots. No celery, I'm afraid 😂, or mushrooms!

I'm the turkey person ... and the sage and onion stuffing 👍 😘

Or join Bernie in the movement for universal healthcare/Medicare For All. Much more productive than sniping at people who do, because you have a very large axe that needs grinding.

Huh? Johnson doesn't feed anyone! But he did deprive them of their statutory rights as agreed by society and the law it enacted through the democratic process. Anyhow have a real good day, Sherman.

I'm glad you are so certain. It must be comforting. The rest of us will continue to struggle; trying to do what is right, trying to make good choices when faced with a world in which genocide in Gaza can happen and working people are dragged from their cars by racist thugs. That truly tests faith.

Help whoever you can and work against the neo-capitalist oligarchy and mil/indust complex that exists to extort workers and immigrants. And now we have techno-feudalism to add to the toxic mix. It's time for communities and unions to make a stand and for the first time in decades I'm hopeful.💪

Never claimed that, I just said that not all persons of faith are bad actors and I know that from personal, daily experience in my parish where many reach out locally and globally to help others according to the teaching of Christ, 'Love others as you love yourself.' Something to be welcomed surely?

I can't explain in 300 chracters the complexity of how a person of faith relates to good and bad events in their life. It is fractious and changing as we all have free will. It is only Human to think you create your own success and someone else is responsible for your misfortunes. Faith is not easy.

We rented a chipper yesterday to clear the overgrown yard ... so I know exactly what you mean 😉

Yes, thank you. It's a disgrace that the 'wealthiest country on Earth' is so uncaring.

Daniel, after they have suffered through it, get them to listen to this entertaining analysis of 'the MacDonald's speech'! 🤣

In Christian teaching, Holy Saturday is the interstitial space between the suffering and death of Good Friday and the victory over death on Easter Sunday. It is a day of sorrow and grief as represented by empty, silent churches. Jesus is dead, but hope remains and is vindicated in the ressurection.

You can take that up with Constantine, a very astute politician, who subsumed the sabbath into the Empire's 'Venerable Day of the Sun'. And so it has been in the Christian tradition ever since. The sensible and humane approach is to acknowledge and respect the various 'sabbaths' ... I mean, why not?
November 19, 2025 at 7:09 PM
I can only speak to the Christian tradition. Every person is entitled to find their own sabbath. Our world has abandoned the concept of 'a day of rest' ... maybe losing something valuable in the process.
Have a good one, Eagle!

In fact, in scripture Jesus said, “Destroy this temple (his body), and in three days I will raise it up,” He is making a prophetic statement about His crucifixion and resurrection (Matthew 17:22–23). A prophesy that was misconstrued as refering to the Temple in which he was teaching. Fri/Sat/Sun.

Not all Christians. For example, my cousin Sr. Aine spent years living/working in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Her Christian community bringing healthcare and education to thousands. Financing small businesses so mothers didn't have to tie their babies to the hut to go pick on the city dump.

Apparently she doesn't know that Sunday is the sabbath because after working to complete creation in six days, God rested on the seventh day. That is why it is remembered as a day of rest, not because it was the day when Jesus rose from the dead.
