Ugh. I've lived in this city long enough to learn that when Siri says "there's no chance of rain today" that I still may have to rescue my laundry #melbourne #melbourneweather

Today's management tip: the Teams emoji for (coffee) and (coffin) are very easily transposed. Be extra careful when posting your "good morning" post to the team...

Life, rather a lot of it. CN: Assault, trauma, my tricksy brain #soberjourney
Swings and Roller Coasters
CN: Mental health, the sober journey. Same song, umpteenth verse. A brief mention of assault and trauma.

At the GP, checking blood tests. Diabetes markers improving, Dr M shrugs. Next screen - cholesterol much improved. He raises an eyebrow. Next screen - liver enzymes… normal? Dr M damn near fell off his chair. He wants to check diabetes again in three months. I told him to brace himself #soberjourney

Message from Amazon driver - “How do I access your building?”. Message from Amazon driver standing at the front door of said building, staring directly at the doorbell. 99% of them are sharp as tacks, I swear.

Are you really a 50-something gym enthusiast if you aren’t mixing Metamucil with your pre-workout? Asking for a friend. Um. Anyway, life goes on.
Another Sunday
CN: Um... housework? The endless struggle with entropy? I think existential dread deserves a content warning.

It’s official - there are few things more humbling to a foodie than reorganising your spice collection. Garam masala from 2016, out you go.

Had performance meeting with boss today. He assessed me at my higher level, announced that I have exceeded expectations and he will offer me opportunities to act at an even higher level. “Careful, you’ll give me a big head", I told him, which is how my people say, “Thank you”.

Yeah, working out is great (even at stupid hours of the morning) but have you ever turned up to a 24 hour gym that’s completely dark? Then, you swipe your phone for entry, all the lights and the TVs turn on, the Godawful music starts playing and you have the entire place to yourself? Bliss...

A metaphor about candles - where I talk about work, life and where the two refuse to intersect. I'm sorry, the art is out of date and I can't fix it yet. Also, my Substack is there if you wish.
A metaphor about candles.
[CN: discussion of health. I’m fine right now, I promise.]

I love the review of Sandman Season 2 that complains that the series is “so pretentious it ruins everything”. I assume the author a) hasn’t read the original work or b) loves the original work way too much. I’m enjoying it so far.

Saw Bring Her Back last night. Holy crap. I don't like to write "if you like that sort of thing" reviews of horror movies, but even if you think you do, think again. A remarkable film, but a whole lot to take in.
